One of the things I love about Arizona is its people and how easy it is to make meaningful connections. The Phoenix Business Journal is one of many organizations that provides a lot of great opportunities to network, and such was the case at its 2016 Top Tech Exec Awards.
I was honored to attend this fast-paced, energetic, awards ceremony and cocktail reception held at the Phoenix Art Museum and be recognized as the Technology Innovator of the Year.

The room was filled with the best of the Valley’s tech industry and it was especially rewarding to be selected as a winner from such a great group of industry veterans and visionaries. In my category, one of Arizona’s hottest small businesses, WebPT was a finalist. Large companies were also well-represented with Avnet Inc. Intel Corp. and Cancer Treatment Centers of America all putting forth candidates.
Government entities such as Mesa Public Schools and the city of Avondale also showcased their innovation chops, demonstrating how technology impacts people’s everyday lives, in every sector.
At Digital Air Strike, we keep a constant eye toward innovation by developing technology to stay ahead of the market, all focused on leveraging social networks and digital response technology to help businesses reach consumers, respond faster to them, sell more and ultimately improve the customer experience as well.
We understand that innovation is at the heart of what makes America the envy of the world and keeps this country competitive on a global scale. It’s also the source of all net new job creation in the U.S. and has been for the past 30 years. These are the high-wage, export-oriented, knowledge-based jobs which have the powerful job multiplier effect throughout the economy.
Yet, innovators are often behind-the-scenes, and not often recognized for their accomplishments. Given the pressure upon businesses to become faster and more efficient and to develop original ideas as the 21st century unfolds, it’s especially important to do so. Businesses that are rewarded for their ability to use technology as a lever to drive innovation to receive a boost of momentum which can turn into better technology and more possibilities for further innovation: a sort of perpetual motion machine.
If the quality and enthusiasm of the attendees at the Top Tech Awards event was any indication, Arizona will continue to foster innovation in the years ahead. Let’s be sure to continue to make the most of their efforts and recognize their accomplishments.
